Soloists

Juli Elliot
Soprano Soloist/Section Leader

Juli Elliot is thrilled to join the choir and congregation at Asbury First UMC. She grew up in a family of musicians in rural Kansas who enjoyed making music together at home as well as at their UMC church. A book on her family ancestry titled, ‘Pitchforks and Pitch pipes’, traces a musical heritage back to 16th century Switzerland. She studied World Religion and Music Education at Ashland University (OH) and Piano Pedagogy at Portland State University (OR). When Juli arrived in Rochester in 1994 with her husband and three young children, she returned to singing and study of vocal performance at Eastman. In the intervening years, she’s had the opportunity to perform and record with ensembles and artists throughout Europe as well as back home in Western NY. Juli is on faculty at the Eastman Community Music School and enjoys a vibrant private studio. Other enjoyments include walking/hiking, traveling, cooking and above all, spending time with her children and four grands. More information about her activities can be found at julielliotsings.com.
